A difficult day today, might try fasting tomorrow

SI Pain: 25/100 | Rib Pain: 7/100 | Concrete Back: 11/100

It was a difficult day today.

I’ve been on edge all week with my back, and things just really came to a head this evening when I was sitting down for dinner.

I could feel the ankylosing spondylitis creeping into my lower left sacroiliac joint.

As I’m walking up and down the kitchen now, I can feel the joint crunching.

When Kat sat on my lap earlier, I yelped with pain, and it was the sharpest AS pain I have had in several months.

In bed I was in quite a lot of pain, and it was all I could think about.

It is getting a little harder to figure out the precise ratings for pain because (thankfully) there has been such an absence of pain over recent months. That means I am comparing against fewer flares. Those that do occur are typically less severe as well.

However, I can get a sense of it in terms of how it affects my walking. It was bad going up the stairs and somewhere between 30 and 50. That was short lived and it was 25/100 overall, hence the rating above.

Now that I am back downstairs and relaxed for a while it seems to have subsided a little (much to my surprise). I would say now it’s more like a 10.

I might try fasting tomorrow to see if I can bat away any oncoming flare.
